While researching background on lives of Maine island lobster fishermen’s families for her recent novel The Summer I Dared, national best-selling novelist Barbara Delinsky was captivated by all the interesting, amusing, and surprising information she turned up concerning Maine's most famous crustacean. She collected much of it into a little book that she had printed up to give to friends, family, and professional colleagues. Then it occurred to her that the book might be of interest to a wider readership, so, naturally enough, she brought it to us: "I would be proud to have Down East Books publish this small book.
